Description:

  • Oxygen flow in the exhaust detected when air is injected in exhaust system is incorrect

Possible Symptoms:

  • Check Engine Light/MIL will be on

Possible Causes:

  • Bad one-way check valve in the air inlet

  • Damaged wiring or connectors, or loose sensor connections

  • Faulty system relay

  • Faulty air injection pump or fuse

  • Bad secondary air pressure sensor

  • Significant vacuum leak

  • Clogged secondary air injection ports

Related Parts:

  • Air Injection System: Air is injected into the exhaust gases for better combustion of unburnt fuel and pollutants through air injectors. This allows better exhaust emission. Problems lead to harmful emissions out of limit

Possible Solutions:

  • Give a visual inspection of the fan, its wiring and electrical connectors, associated fuses and the control relay

  • If nothing looks to need repairs, then trigger the fan to power by either jumping the relay, sending 12 volts directly to the fan, or triggering it via the air conditioning
