Description:

  • Fuel pressure detected is too low for the fuel supply system to work

Possible Symptoms:

  • Power Loss

  • Lean or rich conditions

  • Engine may die

Possible Causes:

  • The vehicle ran out of fuel before the code appeared

  • Faulty low-side fuel pressure sensor

  • Problems with the fuel pump, fuel pump control module, or fuel filter

Related Parts:

  • Fuel Pressure Sensor: Fuel pressure sensor monitors the fuel pressure and returns any excess fuel to the tank. Problems lead to engine misfire, poor fuel economy & poor acceleration

Possible Solutions:

  • Fuel pressure can be checked by using a mechanical gauge attached to the fuel rail

  • Test the fuel pump for sufficient power by locating the fuel pump wiring harness

  • If there is insufficient power, suspect the wiring to the fuel pump and trace it back to determine if there is any excessive resistance in the wiring, loose wires or loose/dirty connections

  • Look for physical damage or kinked fuel lines that would cause a restriction in the fuel pump supply or return lines
